What are keywords

Keyword, the word says it all: It is a word looking for something. There's obviously not much use for that.

They are the words you type into the search bar of a search engine. Usually, you type something into Google's search bar.

For example: You are looking for detergent somewhere cheap. What do you type in? What words do you tap in?

- cheap detergent

- detergent

- promotional detergent

- cheapest detergent

- washing powder cheap

- Dash/Dreft/Ariel,... cheap

These are what we call in the marketing world: short tail keywords= short unconnected words.

Why 'keywords' (keywords in English)?

Because they determine what Google will look for.

We call these short words: keywords. As soon as you type in one of the above words, Google or another search engine starts looking at millions of websites in the background. This happens in a millisecond. The website with the best keywords such as: cheap detergent or washing powder cheap will show you on the first pages.

So those keywords determine whether Google shows your website or your competitor's.

So it is very important to do proper research on the right keywords in your niche, your field. Only then can texts be written that Google-compatible. A search engine will show your website on the first pages if the keywords are in the right place AND if they are the right keywords.

This is exactly what we do. We do an in-depth keyword research or keyword research for your business, we compare it with the competitors and start writing texts that make them get picked up properly by Google.

All the terms in the list above are explained in other blogs. Handy!

There are good software programmes to do this. Often they are paying and not to mention very time-consuming. To help you, we do it all for your business so you can focus on what is really important to you: Growing your own business.

More info on keywords can be found on our website: www.thespotlightagency.be or click on the words coloured in purple.

In a subsequent blog, I will explain the difference between short tail keywords and long tail keywords.

Stay tuned!!!
